SCOOCS Digital Accessibility Statement

1. Commitment to Accessibility

At SCOOCS, we are committed to making our digital platform accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to comply with the applicable accessibility standards and guidelines, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA and the European standard EN 301 549. Our objective is to ensure that all users, regardless of ability, can participate fully and equally in virtual events hosted on our platform.

2. Accessibility Features

To ensure a user-friendly experience for all participants, SCOOCS offers the following accessibility features:

Keyboard Navigation: Users can navigate the platform entirely using a keyboard, without requiring a mouse. This supports users with motor impairments and power users who prefer shortcut navigation.
Screen Reader Compatibility: The platform includes ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes to support screen reader functionality and enhance context where necessary. These implementations are designed in accordance with established accessibility standards to promote broad compatibility with assistive technologies.
Color Contrast: We strive to maintain sufficient contrast between text and background colours to support legibility for users with visual impairments, including colour blindness. Our design efforts are guided by accessibility best practices, and we continue to evaluate and refine our use of colour to improve the visual experience for all users.
Alt Text for Images: Informative and decorative images include appropriate alternative text to support comprehension via screen readers.
Accessible Forms and Controls: All form inputs and interactive controls are properly labeled and can be accessed via keyboard or assistive technologies.

3. Customization and Content Disclaimer

SCOOCS is a fully customizable Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that empowers clients to tailor their virtual environments. This includes the ability to configure colors, fonts, layout elements, and embed third-party content. While the SCOOCS core system adheres to established accessibility standards, we cannot guarantee that all client-customized instances will retain full accessibility compliance.

In addition, all content (such as text, videos, images, and documents) published on the platform is provided and managed directly by our clients. SCOOCS does not control or review this content. Therefore, accessibility of the event-specific content is the responsibility of each client.

Clients are encouraged to:
– Reach out to our support team for assistance regarding accessibility-related questions or implementation advice, as we are happy to provide informal guidance when requested.
– Ensure sufficient color contrast and readable font choices when customizing themes.
– Provide alternative text for all custom images or graphics.
– Avoid using blinking or flashing content that may affect users with photosensitive conditions.
– Test their customized environment using accessibility evaluation tools.
– Review and ensure the accessibility of all uploaded or embedded content.

4. Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an evolving priority. At SCOOCS, we:
– Conduct regular internal audits and accessibility assessments.
– Integrate feedback from users and experts to address known issues.
– Stay informed of updates to accessibility standards and technologies.
– Incorporate inclusive design principles into new features and product iterations.

Our development team is trained on accessibility principles, and we collaborate with consultants and testers with lived experience to validate our platform.
