What is SCOOCS
SCOOCS is a novel all-in-one event and community platform with a sustainable mindset. We host events and engage communities globally: from scientific and academic conferences to annual forums, trade fairs, and music festivals.
Meet the Founder
SCOOCS founder, René Bohnsack, is an impact-driven entrepreneur (e.g., fitbase.de or venturely.io). He is also a Professor of Strategy and Innovation at Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics and the director of the Smart City Innovation Lab, a multidisciplinary research team that works on the latest topics in digitalization, business model innovation, and sustainable technologies.
We support all kinds of events (such as conferences or company presentations) on a virtual or hybrid mode. It is particularly important to us that our customers are presented in the best light, and that the participants forget during the event that the event is taking place on the computer or on the phone. Everyone should feel part of a whole.

Focus in the Future
Novus – Fundo de Capital de Risco Fechado investment in its subsidiaries is supported by the Venture Capital Program, created within the context of the Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR), from the Portuguese Republic and with the financial backing of the European Union under Next Generation EU. The Venture Capital Program is an indirect investment initiative managed by Banco Português de Fomento. It aims to promote investment in SMEs and Mid Caps, primarily in the early stages (pre-seed, seed, start-up, later stage venture – series A, B, and C, or scale-up), by subscribing to venture capital funds for investment in companies managed by financial intermediaries. The goal is to facilitate market entry and the growth/expansion of viable companies through the development of new products/services or markets, or by strengthening and professionalizing the workforce, including the management team, of the final beneficiaries.
Our story
Born from necessity, SCOOCS was founded in 2019 when Rene Bohnsack accepted the challenge of hosting the sustainability conference he was organizing fully online; showing that academic conferences can be more sustainable. Years of experience in building digital platforms and a team that built award-winning e-learning platforms led the development of SCOOCS.
Using open innovation to increase intuitiveness and develop new features plus a proprietary Carbon Calculator, our virtual event platform allows us to create engaging events and measure carbon emission savings. Since the first conference, SCOOCS has saved thousands of tons of CO2 and is loved internationally by academia, industry, and non-profits for its engaging features, vast customization options, and its excellent support team.
